Week 3

Some time during the whirlwind that was week 2 we discovered original hard wood in a few of the rooms. We had to decide which would salvage and which to cover with carpet/new hard wood. Whenever something is 'unearthed' in an older home expect pure beauty, (curved stairs), inprefections (doorway in living room repaired with plywood), and pure trouble (dining room slope). If this is the worst of it I'll be happy, knock on wood, but I suspect that it will be.

The main objective for wk 3 and 4 is paint, paint, and more paint. Hus had a few friends over on Saturday to help paint, despite the weather, they got a lot done. Sunday was more of the same, but the crew including myself and the girls for part of the day and our personal painter too.

Everyday we are steps closer to being ready for flooring.

She's growing up so fast

Ellison had her 18m/24m check up this week.
Her stats are great as always:
28.5 lbs, just under a 1/4 of my weight 84%
34 inches, 3 inches over 1/2 my height 77%

I am most thankful for her speech, Taylor and Averie were both late talkers. Every morning while she is still in bed and I'm getting her clothes out for the day we run threw a standard list of question, she asks
E: Where's dad? (with her elbows and wrist bent, palms facing up- standard question body language)
M: He's at work.
E: Bye-Bye Daddy (waving out the window)
E: Where's Averie?
M: She's at school or She's downstairs (depending on the day)
E: Bye-Bye Averie (same wave)
E: Where's Taylor? (same arm motion.. you get the idea)
M: She's at school
E: Bye-Bye Taylor (same wave)
M: She's at school

E: Mommy pee-pee (pointing to her diaper)
M: yes, mommy will change your pants
E: bellybutton (pointing to her belly)
I then question her on a few other body parts

Then, depending on the day she asks about her clothes, most of the conversations focus on her socks.

That's how my 22 month old and I begin her days!

Sea of beige

It all looks the same..... but, carpet has been decided! I plan to call and order today, let's hope what was in stock on Tuesday is still available today (Thursday)!!

Week 2

Last week in review, enjoy!

We have so much to do that it's sometimes hard to know where to start. Adam or I don't have much time during the week to get things done but luckily my mom was here and was soooo helpful. I'm going to miss her this week. During the week we were able to do the following: decided on the color of the cabinets....I'll let you in on that later (only if it turns out). Cabinet doors have been removed and the ONLY thing I did was label the doors with bases, in an effort to make putting them back together easier. A lot of dry wall/plaster is in the process of being repaired. We have the wood flooring. It only took Adam two trips, the store miss placed one or our carts and it wasn't loaded the first trip. uggg to say the least but, we have it all now. We also have all our appliances!!

We had an amazing weekend and WHAT a crew! My mom, Adam's mom, Marc, and our very own personal painter. I don't even know where to begin with everything that was done, I'll go room by room (I'm sure I'll forget some things) Master- popcorn knocked down, re-textured, mostly primed and paint decided and bought. Averie's room- walls textured, trim sanded (it was black- yuck) Main floor- flooring removed, walls/trim mostly repaired and primed, ceilings primed. Kitchen wall repaired. Taylor's room has one coat of paint, she did what she could reach herself (it was/is too cute) She is super excited about helping and loves the color! I've started painting the cabinets, all the insides of the upper cabinet doors have the first two coats of paint. I feel like I'm forgetting a lot, it maybe because I still feel drained :)

Sunday afternoon the girls' had their annual Christmas dance performance. They did a great job and we all enjoyed the show. Unfortunately in all the mess of the weekend I couldn't find the camera and am beyond bummed :( We ended the weekend on a happy note treating some of our crew to steak dinner and a couple of beers, it was the least we could do.

Now I'm thinking black distressed cabinets.

I have to decide by tomorrow!
